Darkland

Babe

Double bill of the hugely successful 'talking animals' movies. In 'Babe' (1995) a loveable pig is saved from the butcher's knife when Farmer Hoggett wins him in a raffle. Adopted by the farm's sheepdog fraternity, Babe begins to display mutton herding skills of his own, leading to his entry into the local sheepdog trials. In the sequel, 'Babe: Pig in the City' (1998), Farmer Hoggett has an accident, is unable to run his business and faces bankruptcy. The only solution is to cash in on the fame of his shepherding pig, and the animal is duly dispatched to open a state fair. However, a series of mishaps leads to Mrs Hoggett being detained by city authorities, along with a number of four-legged friends, and our porcine hero has to use all his wits to finds his way back to his owner.

'48 Hrs.' and 'Another 48 Hrs.' is a series of two films about Jack Cates, a hard-nosed cop, who reluctantly teams up with Reggie Hammond, a wise-cracking criminal, in order to solve crimes. '48 Hrs.' is often credited as being the first film to pioneer the "buddy cop" genre.

The Fly (1986)

The Fly is a 1986 American science-fiction body horror film directed and co-written by David Cronenberg. Produced by Brooksfilms and distributed by 20th Century Fox, the film stars Jeff Goldblum, Geena Davis and John Getz. Loosely based on George Langelaan's 1957 short story of the same name and the 1958 film, The Fly tells of an eccentric scientist who, after one of his experiments goes wrong, slowly turns into a fly-hybrid creature. The score was composed by Howard Shore and the make-up effects were created by Chris Walas, along with makeup artist Stephan Dupuis. The Fly was released on August 15, 1986, to massive acclaim by critics and audiences, with praise mainly regarding the special effects and Goldblum's performance. It grossed $60.6 million at the box office against its nine-million-dollar budget, becoming the largest commercial success of Cronenberg's career. A sequel, directed by Walas, was released in 1989.

Starring Ice Cube, Chris Tucker, Nia Long, Bernie Mac, Tommy Lister, Jr., and John Witherspoon, the film revolves around 16 hours in the lives of unemployed slackers Craig Jones and Smokey, who must pay a drug dealer $200 by 10:00 PM that night. The film spawned two sequels: Next Friday and Friday After Next, and a proposed fourth film, Last Friday.
